SECOND POEM FOR THE MEKONS
Relax your hungry thoughts
By making some lunch
I'm floaty and outdated
I'm self-important and I beg for compliments
And when I get them I'm abashed
As a subject of poetry
My impressions don't go far
Selfish and senselessly self-deprecating
The courage to make fun of my friends
The perseverance to drink tea and sleep -- humbug --
Country music could use anger
And I could too
But I'm trapped up here
Fever rides on a pig
"I like my friends
I feel unfit for them"
