1202

Sitting sideways on the couch with my bonus points
The doors of experience
I watch the painter edge the trim

She is elsewhere, or rather the present moment
It's a lovely place to visit
If they're going to bother to serialize a novel

Couldn't they give us one we don't know in advance
The atmosphere is so good I don't mind
The patisserie's closed until August I find a penny

I drink some iced coffee I open the newspaper
They keep reporting on the last power structure
Which is a good bet for at least a while longer

Structure, is there a more vacuous word
The heavy, frigid air of late 60s Vegas
Rises and falls in that empty girder business

As the hick donkey opens the lid of his belly
And a fly buzzes out reinforcing the hunger theme
But nobody's ever cooked and eaten a theme
