1911

THE DIFFICULT CENTURY

Where I lived the poverty
Was not severe. Food, water,
TV, and the smell of flowers
Year round. The papers
Were generally free
Of grammatical errors,
If given to rote, Homeric
Almost, formulae. "Bombs
Fall Again on Capital,"
Etc. In the morning,
A bootless excitement.
At night, profound sleep.
