INVISIBLE POEM #5

The longer I wait to clean
The windows the more work it is

Love, let me know where you are

The burglars are
wondering too,
by the way

The morning waits on the other
side of meaning
to say what it
thinks of you

This indeed is something other
than the windowdozing

To see that happen
so quickly gives me
a stray calm

and now in the light
of the lamp with the biplane
folk-paper shade we got
for five bucks at a farm sale
in Kennebunk Maine
I am finally seeing
myself fly seeing myself
vanish into the ambiance

from here I can
work out the structure
but also the chaotic pattern
the purple and insects make
as they do their walk
stop for food
and resume

Hey little rock and roll
I know just how you feel
You should quit falling in love all the same

And now that I'm in here
What should I do first?
Should I start a university
In my spare time? Lavish the truth
with untoward dances and
bean buzzards with nail-polish colors?

Vote out loud and smuggle
calm across the perimeter
so the liars can harvest their
tiny apologies from the vacant earth?

Snow falls on the ice and
I ship into it, they're moving along the subway car
and asking for some time

I'd like to think of the question
in its aquarium moving slowly

The problem of the farm lisp
In their sleep why are you still here

We are tarantulas singing opera
In the cable-cars that run on flan

I see you laugh when something's not funny

You have to play the piano to get
A little high on working things out
Otherwise it's scandalous applause
That leaves us with a feeling

At last said the marionette
We can have it out in the starlight
Of games and beach movies

This lasts five minutes

Anxiety hands me a shawl

There comes a fine breeze
Furthermore there need be no scratching
Because the surface is well-patrolled
The work of our friends makes us
Happy to go drinking

All the fathers are mulling in the church
Talking and drinking from styrofoam
The harbor out the window filled with
Little waves which lap like little runners
